Unsurprising given the number of defects in the past two German cars that have entered my family. Worst is the ergonomics at times, haveing to reach under a bar to get at window switches and what not.

Buying German is usually equated with buying part of the prestige and their attractive history. Well at least that was one of the more important aspects of going German for my parents.

Really, MDX or X5? Looks and name aside, MDX would win hands down... but that wasn't the case. Parents just wanted to buy the badge... I'm pretty sure they don't make use of the handling prowess much.

I still can't stomach the idea of paying for a name. I would much rather get raw power and a low price. Call me an idiot but I prefer that a car gets a big hit when it comes off the lot. That way I can buy it from Joe Schmoe two years later at a insane bargain.

Actually, you wouldn't have a hard time buying one b/c it's ugly, but b/c there is a long wait list for them.

Japanese carmakers have stolen market share in recent years from the U.S.'s big three manufacturers, General Motors Corp, Ford Motor Co and the Chrysler unit of DaimlerChrysler.
Whoa! When did this happen!!??

Recently. Toyota is now the #3 automaker in the US knocking Chrysler into 4th place. Toyota holds about 10% of the American market.

Doesn't surprise me. Ask most car owners in the US which they are more happy with - a domestic or a japanese car (disregarding all the shantanu's out there).

i said "wanting to buy"

i don't even want to buy one because they're so ugly so why would a waiting list make a difference to me?
