i used to post at Bob's, and remembered reporting a find of german 0w-30 at canadian wal-marts that sparked the whole buzz, but then realized everyone there is a nutcase and if you just change your damn oil all that crap doesn't even matter (bypass filtration, different full-flow filters, etc.).

the european formula with the different bottles are supposedly the post-katrina formula. don't know if there's any difference.

if you ever go out to the dirt valley 909, i've bought some out there before

i don't regularly go there but if i do and see some bigass autozone i'll go check. 😀

well, i will say they're overly obssessive about it.

I had a dumb ass incident myself where i left the drain bolt loose on my car after an oil change, and the oil fell out like a block away from my house. So basically i drove a block with no oil except whatever was left stuck in the pan and coating the internals.

I had the car dynoed afterward and it didn't lose any power, i had an oil analysis after another 4k miles and the lab said the wear metal detected was low even for normal use.

so if the car doesn't even blink after that, for most people with just beater ass cars and easy driving, it probably doesn't matter.

Considering it's about $30 for the amount of oil necessary to do an oil change for this stuff, I'll probably only use it once. And yes, not only did the charge me for the kendall oil, they also did not put in the full synthetic, or at least the oil change sticker says 3000 miles.
