There's hardly been anything about this in the US press but there is some serious strife over in Georgia right now (and I'm not talking about the state below South Carolina)

Georgia's main opposition leader has vowed to "trample" the country's leadership as supporters gathered for protests in the capital Tbilisi.

Mikhail Saakashvili said a "bloodless revolution" was going on after official results gave the government victory in parliamentary elections.

Amid the tension, the new parliament is set to convene on Saturday.

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan called for "maximum restraint" and urged leaders to seek a political solution.

In a statement, he said he had been following events in Georgia since the 2 November election with "interest and concern".

Update

Now the parliament has been stormed by opposition elements.

Perhaps no one, the A-C could come from anywhere. Aka, though Europe is the commonly held belief where the A-C will come from, it is not necessarily so.

No such thing, and a waste of time to even devote any time to wondering about it...IMO. :p

Looks like the revolution has begun.
TBILISI (Reuters) - Opposition supporters have broken down the door of Georgia's parliament building and entered the chamber where President Eduard Shevardnadze was giving a speech, according to live television.

Television pictures showed chaotic scenes inside the parliament on Saturday as scores of opposition supporters surged into the chamber, waving red and white flags and taking to the podium with microphones.

Shevardnadze was quickly hustled away by his bodyguards. He had been due to address the inaugural session of the new parliament.

Here's an update for you guys:

Shevardnadze resigns

Fireworks exploded over the Georgian parliament this evening after it was announced that President Eduard Shevardnadze had signed his resignation papers, ending a three-week standoff over allegedly rigged elections.

The 75-year-old, best known in the West as the man who helped Mikhail Gorbachev end the Cold War, formally stepped down a day after opposition protestors seized the parliament and declared what they called a "velvet revolution."
