Cliffs: Author George R.R. Martin penned the fantasy series "A Song of Ice and Fire" which HBO has turned into their latest original series premiering a week from Sunday. In a New Yorker article GRRM calls out Lost for what he felt was a disappointing conclusion to the series and states his intention to avoid the same for readers of his.

Damon Lindelof, Lost creator/writer, responds via Twitter with some zingers, to wit: "I’ve just been informed George is working on his feud response. I’ll have it in FIVE YEARS."

Yes, the fanboi nerdfest of a feud is on.

Lindelof couldn't pull it off at the end.

5 years or not, at least he'll have it. Better than not getting anything at all, like oh say a LOST ending

This is not guaranteed. Dude does not represent a healthy figure. He'll probably pull an RJ on us.

At least this HBO fantasy series is based off of a book series, I am so scared of a repeat of Carnivale and the epic cliff hanger after-which the series was cancelled.

The LOST ending made perfect sense; it got everyone talking, even though it was just some poor guy who was on his way to death, dreaming and imagining all of this.

He may have not even been a doctor!

Other Lindelhof tweets:

“In related news, my therapist just hit the jackpot

George? You got yourself a feud, motherfucker

Winter IS coming, bitch

I don’t take issue with his opinion, I take issue with the fact that he coined “Pulling a LOST” as empirically “fucking up the ending”

Two final thoughts, George. A. They weren’t dead the whole time. B. 1997 called. It wants its web design back

I stand by the ending of the show and defend it accordingly. Until I am worthy of the New Yorker, this is the platform I’ve got.

Haha, truth. About 90% of the posters here could design a better site in ten minutes.

I liked the Lost ending. And Macamus Prime is waaayyy off base.

If GRRM wanted an apt analogy to a show that grew more complex and layered over its seasons and then screwed the pooch on its ending he should have gone with Battlestar.

The ending to Lost made me blow a gasket. I cannot believe I spent years invested in that series only to be let down by that pathetic cop-out ending.

I actually enjoyed the ending of Lost. I had realized years earlier that it wasn't going to be completely explained and all that so I had already gotten over the fact that it wasn't going to resolve everything. It closed up the stories of the people on the plane (except for Walt) and I'm satisfied with that. I think it was beautiful in the way every person came to a realization and then finally Jack. The looks the characters gave each other, the understanding that Hurley and Ben spent another lifetime together but that Ben wasn't quite ready to move on. I'm a sucker for that kind of character stuff.

My feelings. So I don't think GRRM has to worry about pulling a Lost, since I don't think he's capabable of it.

I just can't believe that GRRM even tried to comment on ANYONE's ending when he is so far from finishing his own story.

I bought Game of Thrones on a whim when it first came out. I've followed this saga as long as possible, and i really truly do not think he will ever finish it.

Is the whole new yorker article available anywhere?
