I don't think he has a chance of winning but who knows
Katie should run again after all this affair crap blows over.

I guess he thinks if a scumbag crook like Trump can win the presidency he too can win with the same kind of offshore help Trump got.

Should be really interesting to see if Trump's popularity with his base will overcome the notoriety George garnered from his run-in with the law.

If Katie was a Repub she'd still be in office simply because her president set a precedence for their party such that adultery and extramarital affairs are no big deal, nothing to make a fuss over.

She could have remained in office. Didn't she choose to resign?

I think she has other skeletons she preferred to keep in the closet for safe keeping.

If you are a D, you have an ex leak revenge porn from your affair and you have to resign...

If you are an R, having an affair with a pron star and/or committing felonies are considered qualifications for the job...

The rules just don't make any sense anyone

As we can see from pcgeek's response, Democrats are always guilty of much worse things than Republicans, even when there is no evidence proving it.

That's what makes people like @pcgeek11 so giddy. Rules only apply to Democrats.

She didn't resign because of revenge porn, she resigned because of allegations of having a relationship with a staff member, the new rules passed because of the huge wave known as the me-too movement.

.

Rep. Katie Hill to resign amid allegations of inappropriate relationships with staffers

1st Lawmaker To Trigger New #MeToo-Era Conduct Rules Is A Female Freshman

"Allegations that I have been involved in a relationship with Mr. Kelly are absolutely false," Hill said in a statement. "I am saddened that the deeply personal matter of my divorce has been brought into public view and the vindictive claims of my ex have now involved the lives and reputations of unrelated parties."

However, the allegation was enough for the House Ethics Committee to announce a preliminary investigation on Wednesday, citing the 2018 rules change.

The democrats brought this upon themselves, after the precedent they set with Al Franken using their torches and pitchforks mob mentality.

i would think trump is highly unpopular in CA and anyone associated with him would be too, and a district that just elected a D at that.

Clinton did that for the democrats some time back, the republicans are just playing catch up.

Do you just play cut and paste. Please explain how what you wrote makes any sense when the seat this guy is running for is one vacated because the Rep had an extramarital affair.

I replied with: Clinton did that for the democrats some time back, the republicans are just playing catch up.

tweaker2 made the comment that Trump legitimized adultery for republicans, I responded that Clinton legitimized it for democrats years back.

All clear?

No we aren't clear. Why don't you wrap into your explanation why Katie resigned or better yet how Trump fits into the GOP's family values plank.

I'm not sure how this applies. I know that the GOP if often referred to as the "family values" party, but every single time I've seen that reference it's been made in a disparaging manner by someone on the left. It may be part of the GOP platform, I don't know as I haven't read that.
As far as my comments go, when Bill was banging an intern in the oval office most on the left said it was between Bill and Hillary and none of our business. Ok, I'm good with that. Now that Trump has done it it's somehow immoral.
I don't recall Trump ever condemning anyone for screwing around, though he may have if it fit his needs at the moment.

I don't know why Katie resigned, I never claimed that knowledge. I could speculate, but I don't have any evidence. That decision was hers to make, so I assume there was some compelling reason to do it. It could have been simple embarrassment.

I don't know what the GOP family values plank actually says, I wasn't even aware they still had one. I certainly never defended Trump's morals or lack thereof, so your challenge on this point is empty. I agree, he's a pig.

Um, there is absolutely nothing "me too-related" concerning her affair.

Trump did it and covered it up with hush payments for which one person has gone to jail.

And Bill was dragged through the coals for lying about it. Meanwhile GOP is doing jack sh!t about a president who's committed actual crimes.

Totally the same?

Point of clarity, the staffer was a third in their relationship. Hence why the pictures exist. Maybe adultery from a biblical standpoint or whatever, but not as most people understand it.

CA25 is an odd district. It was all dem until 1990. Thereafter, it was all rep until Hill won it last year. Kind of a swing district. But I don't think any R closely affiliated with Trump has a good chance right now. Also, Papadopoulos is a total idiot. This is the best they could do to challenge this swing district?
