George Michael’s bad luck with the road has struck yet again.

This time the 49-year-old singer was almost run over when he fell out of a Range Rover he was riding in on a stretch of highway located near St Albans, England.

The SUV was traveling at speeds of close to 70 mph, which meant his fall left him with a number of bloody lesions and torn clothes, though the injuries are said to be minor.

He’s been recovering in hospital since the accident on Tuesday and is expected to be questioned by police soon.

Another driver, Katherine Fox, had to slam the brakes of her MINI upon seeing him fall onto the lane just in front of her. Fortunately, an off-duty policeman was also passing by and pulled over to help.

Speaking with the London Evening Standard (via Top Speed), Fox said she learned from the singer’s passengers that before he had fallen, he had tried to open the door and shut it again because it wasn’t closed properly.

Note, this is just the latest in a string of incidents involving the singer and the road.

Ranking up there with Lindsey Lohan for vehicular mishaps, Michael was sentenced to eight weeks in prison in 2010 for driving under the influence of drugs and crashing through a London shop window, and before that he received a two-year driving ban for also driving under the influence. And if that wasn’t enough, he was also found slumped in his car in 2006 after reportedly using some drugs.

Are child locks mandatory in the UK? His friends ought to be using them anytime he gets into a car.

Probably has "friends" like the kind Elton John and Elvis had, the ones who wind up being "enablers" hitching along for the free ride as long as they can, Elton got lucky when a "real" friend told him flat-out that he was wrecking himself with drugs and booze and finally talked him into treatment, probably saved his life.

seatbelt?

Also you don't reclose a door when you're driving at 70 mph...
if you didn't hear that it wasn't closed before you got at that speed, then it means it's closed enough to wait for the next rest area.

Even enablers aren't dumb enough to think the ride will last much longer with their sugar daddy falling out of a car at 70 mph.

The lady in the mini should've just ran his ass over. One less idiot in the world, and somebody who can fall out of a suv at 70 mph deserves the Darwin award.

Darwin awards go to the dead, not the living.

Pretty sure they were traveling at a rate of speed much lower than 70mph. Maybe 70kph.

You need to try and get a Darwin award yourself. One less idiot in the world.

At 70mph, I'd think there's enough force from air resistance against the door to make it very unlikely someone would just fall out.

i was going to mention that. at 70 it would be rough to open the door that wide to just fall out..
