Huh, I actually just placed my pre-order today after a lot of trepidation; now I feel like I should cancel it. :hmm:

KT

Jeebus. Why does everyone in this thread think this was actually modified by Lucas? READ THE DESCRIPTION ON THE YOUTUBE VIDEO.

The uploader modified it himself and outright says so.

Besides, there's no fucking excuse for having that BD set pre-ordered in the first place.

Whores.

WTF, I'm supposed to read shit too??? D:

I pre-ordered because I get 1,000 bonus points at my local store; at $89.99 +1,000 points (essentially $10) towards another purchase, the pre-order makes sense to me. /shrug.

Hope you didn't make a rash decision based on such an unlikely scenario.

No, this has been going on for a loooong time on AVS ever since the BD was announced. Just the fact that he is not releasing the original versions pisses me off. I thought I could just overlook it, but I can't. Now on top of that, he's pulling this crap. I just don't get it, Blade Runner included 5 freakin' versions of the movie. Lucas can't throw us a bone and release 2 versions? Fuck that guy.

Edit: Ah, I see this wasn't a Lucas edit. That's ok, I'm sure he fucked it up in other places.

B-but-but the original versions were destroyed while they were making the special editions.

It was modified using the leaked audio from the blu-ray version I read about this on multiple blogs before I ever saw the video. It's most likely real but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Thanks. That's the important bit of info I was missing.

I still think anyone who pre-ordered this release is a whore. I wouldn't even pay $10.

Fuck GL.

Oh, KT: You kinda reinforced the "whore" accusation with this:

I could have done better with my macbook, a 6 pack of beer, and whatever default audio recorder comes with OSX.

I'm not sure if my sarcasm meter is working properly, but it isn't real.

One thing Star Wars has laid claim to despite any of the numerous complaints is amazing sound. The movies have always set the bar for audio work, and this YT clip is a pretty bad edit. I can and have done much better work, even when doing a rough cut.

If the terrible edit wasn't enough proof that it isn't leaked audio from the bluray, there is also the little fact that the blurays haven't been leaked in any form yet. Once they do get leaked, anyone with google will know. SW bluray isn't something groups will sit on.

Still a few weeks from release, but it is shens. Nothing has been leaked yet and the edit is a hack job.

*whew!*Thanks, HendrixFan. I've waited years for the entire series to be released on BluRay. I know it contains the "Han shot first" edit from the DVD box set, but I'm OK with that. The video quality of BR makes up for that one niggle. Besides, I know damn well who shot first. I was very happy w/the DVD box set; I'm sure I'll be elated watching all six movies in 1080p!

There are HDTV rips in 1080p floating around the internet. Pretty nice, but the bitrate on the bluray will make it look much nicer. I'm looking forward to the DTS-MA more than anything, followed closely by the 40 hrs of bonus material.

I can't wait.

I didn't know about the 40 hours of bonus material! Score! I have said for years that as soon as the whole series is available on BR, I'm buying it. So I did...without reading too far into the description.

Each of the 6 movies is getting a theatrical 3D release over the next 6 years, starting with the Phantom Menace. Do they even have 3D bluray?

Yes, they do. But 3D is bullshit. Looks wonky and give me a headache. 3D BR/HDTV was stillborn, but all major manufs jumped on the bandwagon assuming the sheeple would open their wallets. Bad timing for them. When they first came out, 3D HDTVs were 3x the price of normal 2D HDTVs. They didnt' sell. Now they are almost the same price and still not selling to anyone who takes 3 minutes to do some research. Nobody likes the wonky glasses you still need to wear, nor the limited viewing angle you must sit within in order for the effect to work properly. A number of consumers (ME) get headaches and nauseous when viewing it.

1080p Hell YEAH!!! 3D? NO, thank you.
