Anyone ever try to use one of these in a dorm? Mine doesn't allow "open flames" (no toasters, candles, etc) and I'm not sure if this would be legal. I've been looking for a way to get real meat from places other than home, though, so this would be great.

If a TOASTER isn't allowed, I'm not sure if this would be either, but there's definitely no "open flames" here. The 2 grills don't warm up to be as hot as the heating element inside a toaster, so there's no way that it could actually IGNITE something. I have not used this in a dorm, but friends of mine have, and there were never any issues with them having one. It's so small anyway, that no one would know about you having it

We've used these the dorms here without a problem. Toasters aren't allowed here as well but no one seemed to mind us running one of these grills.

Mine doesn't allow anything either, but I still manage to use candles and toasters, nobody seems to mind though, because it's just a legal thing so they won't be responsible when some idiot burns down the dorm with a toaster. Just be careful, and try to keep &quot;illegal&quot; items out of view from stupid ass RA's.

FYI...

The lids on the unit with the bun warmers are very fragile.
This is the smaller version of the unit sold at Sears for about $60.00.
I used mine a few times. The part in front (handle) breaks off quite easily. The handle has a latch that is unsed to open and close the bun warmer compartment. If I was buying another, I would opt for the unit with the solid top.

Yeah, my dorm supposedly doesn't allow toasters, toaster ovens, microwaves, and a long list of other similar items either...mostly because of city fire hazard laws relating to college dorms. But, they're not enforced at all. I have a microwave, toaster, and toaster oven all in plain sight when my door's open...as do many, many others...

So, now I've got a George Forman Grill to add to the list! Ummmm...finally an easy way (hopefully) to cook fresh red meat!!! Thanks for the post!

I got the Indiglo George Foreman a few days after they aired on the Super Bowl. My school, UCSB, doesn't allow any of that stuff either. But how often do the lazy RA's actually come by and check? I don't have problems with anything.

I ordered one of the plain ones (no colored bunwarmer) for $19.99, threw in some measuring cups I needed to make the total over $25, then used the coupon to bring the total back down around $15. Unfortunately, the grill is kind of heavy so the shipping was over $8 altogether. The coupon basically covered the shipping.

Still a good deal, though, we have been wanting one of these because our new apt. complex doesn't allow barbecues on the deck/balcony. They were on sale a while back at Target for $23, I paid just a bit more and got the measuring cups I needed.

Well i just got one from my work last night, bu its the regular size one that retails for $59.99. I ended up getting it for $15 flat because i know the ropes at Service Merchandise. My advice is to see if any service merchandise has one by you in ther &quot;scratch and dent&quot; section and talk the associate into giving you the %75 which is the max. Mine wasnt even used, the cord was still all tied up, but be sure to check.
