Not sure if this is the right section to ask this question, but i'm having trouble with Geometry Wars for the PC. I can run the game fine on my computer, but it runs choppy. I have a dual core opteron 165, so for every game that runs choppy i set the affinity to to only one cpu which usually solves the problem. The game does run smoother when i only use one cpu, but it crashes!!! Any one have any ideas of what might be causing the problem? Also there's a weird bug where the audio hiccups, it only happens when i set the affinity to only one cpu.

My Rig:
Opteron 165 @ 2.75
NF4 Ultra-D Motherboard
Sound Blaster Live ! 5.1
ATI x1900xt 512mb

EDIT** Problem was fixed by turning my soundcard acceleration down to basic acceleration in Direct-X diagnostics (type dxdiag in window's run, it is in the sound tab of the DX menu)

The audio hiccups for me too, but I don't recall having performance problems.

Yeah, I'd recommend it too. I've tried playing with the keyboard before and it's next to impossible. I also have the game for X360, so I don't see a point in me playing it anymore on the PC lol.

This is odd; cause on an AMD 2500+ (barton) 512 megs of ram and a 6800GT; the game is actually running quite smoothly on this machine.

I should have my normal PC revamped within the week; but if the performance goes down; i'll be very perplexed.

I just found the solution the other day. If you turn down your sound cards hardware acceleration in direct-x diagnostics (go into run and type in dxdiag) it'll run smooth as butter, right now i'm running basic sound acceleration. I have a 5.1 sound blaster live sound card and i think the game was just too demanding.
