Wow. I don't usually see it like that.

This was evidently a glancing blow from an M5-class CME.

Anyone up in Canada getting a good light show now?

Here in northern PA, I've got some clouds, city lights, several stars barely visible, and a bright Moon. :\

magnetic solar flares from our sun hit the magnetic atmosphere of the earth, and charged particles from that collision actually start to glow, and the result is a colorful night sky.

i think its fascinating, to be honest. im surprised more people arent in awe of it.

Yeah northern lights are super awesome to see. Not something I see very often though but if we get a cloudless day and the solar activity is right, it's one epic show. Just so surreal to see. I've always thought of how cool it would be to produce some artificially. Not something easy to do though and think it's only been done once.

Went to check real quick, I don't see anything, but I'll wait till it's later when the sun is completely down. No clouds though, I can see the full moon nice and bright.
