Geofencing App for iPhone 4s

We currently have the 4s, but my wife will likely be upgrading to iPhone 5 soon. In any event, our recently-turned teenager also has a 4s, and my wife now wants to place a geofencing app on it. She wants to receive text messages/emails when my child ventures outside a pre-defined boundary, and she'd like the app to operate in "stealth" so that my child apparently isn't aware it's "keeping an eye" on him. I've googled such apps, looked at forum posts, etc., but nothing really jumps out.

Any ideas would be welcome. The sooner I find one, the sooner I get some peace. :biggrin:

i don't think apps can't run gps/location services in the background on iphones, so this might not be possible barring something created by apple themselves. have you looked at the icloud stuff for locating phones? maybe that can do geofencing?

Stock iPhone wouldn't allow this. The apps running in the background all of the time in stealth mode. It's not how the "multitasking" in iOS works.

Jailbroken one maybe.

Android devices are likely your best bet.
