Woohoo! I just got 2 boxes of genuine Zebra parts today!

It's actually 2 platen rollers for Zebra brand thermal label printers but the boxes have a zebra design band around the outisde and it says Genuine Zebra Parts.

Makes it almost sound like there are actual Zebra (the animal) parts inside. :D

They're thermal printers for printing labels in for example, UPS and Fedex. Very expensive.

a fucking pain in the ass to fix when they don't work too. i just got done replacing the roller. they made that roller unnecessarily difficult to replace.

I've never had the opportunity to fix one of those but I'll take your word for it. The ones we have are supplied by Fedex and UPS so if anything goes wrong, we just send in for a replacement.

i guess for the most part it wasn't too bad, but there is this one clip that is near impossible to replace once you take it off because they have another part in the way.

i could have sent it in for this, but they said if i'm somewhat mechanically inclined i could do it myself.

it cost 37 for the part. 90 at least for service plus shipping costs if i sent it to them to do.

only took me maybe half an hour i guess, maybe a little more.

I HATE these things with a passion.

This is the one I deal with primarily, hundreds of them. I hate them so much.

Damn. What industry are you in? I bet those are very expensive. We used to have one similar to that but it used a ribbon to print the data on labels for our Boeing parts.

manufacturing. we were actually a fairly small company when we bought them. we were just recently acquired by a much larger company though.

this one uses a ribbon also.

Oh, those! Yea, I've used those before. We have a UPS computer at the office, looks exactly like the Zebra linked. Handy little ah heck.
