mhahahahhhahahaha.

good stuff

I wonder how well it works...

Looks like it's pretty raw and untested with some issues, but it may still be something fun to screw around with.

I just got a old 800mhz celeron computer today... maybe I will have to give FreeBSD a try on it. Maybe even see how long it takes for portage to screw it up. :p

ew :p

I like OpenBSD's ports/packages. I'd like to see an update utility, but that's my only "complaint."

pkgsrc is also nice.

One of the problems with using a non-OpenBSD package system is that you do not get the experience of the porters that commonly work on OpenBSD ports. Some things require a patch, or two, or three, etc to get them working. Is portage going to be able to do that? If it does, will it just be leeching off of the work done by the porters (which is fine, just kind of against the spirit of the whole system, IMO ;))? Is he going to provide support to users that have problems? They can't go to the OpenBSD mailing lists to get help. :p

And I hope his iso is different than the official OpenBSD layout. If it isn't it's evil and the guy risks getting sued off the face of the planet, not to mention possible criminal charges. ;)

Other than those concerns, it looks interesting. If I ever get time, and the parts, I may try it out. Although, I don't see it staying around long. :p

In fact, some of the first people that pre-ordered have recieved their cds already. I just ordered mine a few days ago, so I don't expect mine until next week. :(

Of course, I've been running snapshots for the past few months anyways. :D
