Gentle Typhoon for CPU cooling???

Hi all,
I have 2 Gentle Typhoon D1225c, bought them some time ago for my PC case but since I have not used them yet was wondering if they could be used for CPU cooling...
Can I swap a low-profile CPU fan (I am about to buy two of these) with any of the Gentle Typhoons fans, they are 12cm/12cm anyway, just different hight.
Or 1450 rpm of the Typhoons won't be sufficient to cool down an i7 2600k?
PC case fan and CPU fan- any difference?
Thanks a lot.

I use that exact fan on my overclocked 3770K and it works great. I have no complaints either with noise or temps.

A pair of AP-14 1450rpm GTs should be fine for CPU cooling though you won't have PWM. GTs are standard 120x120x25mm fans. Not sure what "low profile" is supposed to mean.. 15mm thick fans?

Well, I was thinking of buying a pair of Prolimatech Samuel 17 (a low- profile CPU fan) and slapping the 2 GT I have on top of them. Just was not sure if the GT fans could be attached to the CPU sink since were are originally made to cool down a PC Case and not a CPU.
The reason I am going with a low profile CPU fan is because in a week time I will build a pair of mini ITX based i7 2600k and need to keep everything in a relatively small cases. So basically in each case there will be a low profile CPU fan blowing upward.

Thanks for the help, guys.

A GT is well suited for heatsinks or rads because of its high static pressure. I installed a Cogage Arrow with two GTs yesterday. The Arrow has very dense fin stacks with lots of resistance and I can actually feel some air coming through. The GTs were definitely a great choice in my case and I'm sure they will work well for the Samuel too, since it also has a dense fin stack.

Another nod for GT's. They're my preferred fan for radiators and heatsinks due to their high static pressure/low noise/high CFM profile.

I would probably lean towards a Noiseblocker eLoop PWN fan. The design of the fan blades gets rid of the turbulence between the blade edges and the shroud, not sure if I'm using the correct terms here but you'll get the idea. It should have very good mmH20 as well

Well, I already have the 2 GT's and since will be spending on 2 mini PCs am kind of reluctant to fork out for new fans 🙂

On behalf of my future i7 2600k render nodes- thank you very much guys.
Have a nice weekend.
