generic usb compact flash card reader not working

i installed the drivers, then plugged it in, and nothing shows up in my computer. on my other xp machine, xp had default drivers it used, but for some reason they didn't load on this computer. when i go through the "new hardware wizard" it can't find the drivers off the cd. and installing off the cd doesn't work either. any ideas?

Obviously XP doesn't see it. Have you tried another reader?

no i haven't...but obviously xp must see it if it comes up in the device manager and the "new hardware wizard" pops up when i plug it in. for some reason the drivers aren't working...

Ok. I thought you just ran the new hardware wizard manually.
