Generic PC133 laptop RAM work in a DELL + PC100 laptop ram in a Cel 600 (pc66) laptop?

I have a P3 900 Mhz dell laptop, that only has 128MB of ram in it (two 64's) I believe it is samsung brand.

Just curious if 'generic' PC133 184 pin SODIM memory will work, or if dell's are notoriously proprietary in what sort of ram you can throw into them.

its a inspiron 4100 series.

thxs

Edit:

Anyone have any idea on weather or not a Celeron 600Mhz laptop could use PC100Mhz laptop ram? I'm assuming that the ram in it now is running at PC66. But if i were to insert high quality PC100mhz ram, would it be able to work on that kind of laptop?

Thxs 🙂

Prolly wont work, or will run unstable, no harm in trying though. Check out Kingston.com and search for the memory for your model Lpatop.

most dell ram are from crucial now.. with the MT sticker.. it's so cheap that you can get it straight from crucial.com. Crucial guarantee compatibility and they might still have cheap fedex-2 days

thanks for the responses...keep em coming if anyone has any other insight

i found some crucial ram that is pretty decent price wise, i might take the plunge and go that route.

I re examined the ram in the laptop and it is samsung PC133 64 meg chips in two slots...
