I am contemplating getting 3x512mb of pc2700 ddr. This will fill all the banks on my board. my dilemma revolves around whether the aggressive settings of a high performance ddr is going to be impossible if i have all the banks populated?

i am going to run at 166mhz and aggresive settings would be nice, but is it possible? if i can't run aggressive timings am i just as well off with generic ddr?

fyi: not a newbie, just never tried it... i was planning on corsair xms2700c2 stuff, but why pay the extra cost if i can't use the timings?

thanks.

Quality RAM from Samsung (True) or Crucial will, as I have populated 3 banks in Abit board with PC2700 256MB, both brands, but I will NOT run any GENERIC brand, or any of the repackaged 'Off-Brand' memory at all, since they buy lower quality Samsung and run it as overclocked. Just my preference, but I don't buy the "Eye-Candy" stuff.

There is no authorized specification for ANY memory RAM to run above PC2700, even though some manufacturers claim to be selling the PC3000 or PC3200, since there is actually NO SPECIFICATION, thay are free to call it whatever they want to, lets call it PC90210, that's just as good a number as any, or how about PC800BIGLIE, thats just as valid.

Here is a link that will enlighten you on some of the stuff out there: PC2700

There are a lot of people out there running a lot of "Overclocker Special" brands, and they're thrilled, but in most cases, it's just Samsung at a higher price.
