I was at my local Target (in CA) and they had the 20ct box of claritin 10mg on clearence, $4.78 from $5.64, which works out to be about $.24 per pill. Look on the end isles near the shampoo/toothpaste and such.

May just be a local/regional thing.

These are some good prices. I didn;t even know there was generic Claritin. The real ones cost a dollar+ a pill.

Yes, the generic (loratadine) is the exact same thing as the Claritin brand.

The problem with buying medicine at Costco is that the bottles they sell generally hold more pills than you would take in 10 years' time.

"this stuff is good as the real thing?"

all generic medicine is as good as the real thing, or it would be pulled from the shelves.

claritin is a sad example of consumer raping in the drug market, which is unfortunate considering the ammount of people that benefit from it. even though claritin was sold over the counter in canada and elsewhere, it was still a prescription drug in the states because they were making tons of money on it. then, as soon as the patent was up, all of the sudden they decided it was safe enough to be over the counter in the states too.

while I will admit there is some rapage going on in the pharmacy arena, I will also say if these companies were not so large it wouldn't be a real rape. There is a ton of trial and error and then a ton of testing to make sure you don't kill off those you are trying to cure. Sure the big guys have this all down to a science (read as "Marketing 101")...but you cannot fault the large companies for not discounting based on their extreme infrastructure....too make money today you have to be large and in charge to pun the cliche, with the internet and mail order it's hard for 'mom and pop' to make a buck. Probably also the reason for Jerry Springer and the like...;)

My first allergy in my life turned out to be Mango....the walgreen's generic saved my life ;) The box says: Premium Latex Condom, Studded, Extra Large.....wait wrong box....10mg Loratadine.

:)

Just so everyone knows, the $6.61 price at Sams for the 75 count box is a clearance price. So if you need it go get it before it sells out. All the boxes at my local store had expiration dates of 2/05 or 3/05. Yesterday I bought 3 boxes for my husband and today went and got 4 more. He's all set until 2005 :D

If you have congestion with your allergies, Sam's also carries loratadine-D. It's not on clearance but still a good price at $20.87 for 45 pills.

fits in with this description -- thanks!
this is the first target thread with a 30% off (in the history) that i thought was remotely hot -- the best has to be that the competition for the deal is reduced too -- the lurkers/hogs won't bother this until it's 75% -- hopefully
thanks to the op for the thread!

No need to rush to Sam's, the 75 count package of Loretadine is being replaced by an almost equitably priced pack of 180ct Loretadine, but the new pack is a more convenient set of 2 bottles of 90 tabs each. Less hassle to open than those double sealed individual pill pop packs, IMO.
