I saw a good deal on a laptop in a classified ad, but it had no AC adapter. Are the ones at Radio Shack sufficient? It is a Toshiba Tecra 8100 ... how would I know what type of generic power supply to get for it?
Make sure whatever you buy has your model listed on it. The adapter needs to output enough power to supply the laptop and you need the proper connector.
Targus makes an excellent generic A/C adapter - comes with all the plug variants you might need. They are available at any store that sells that sort of thing.
I bought one to use for travel - it comes complete with the FAA airline adapter. Very handy. It is easy to determine if your laptop is within the device's power range.
