should a network engineer expect to get when he/she is promoted to IT manager?

Give me an average percentage.

It shouldn't be a percentage. The person should get an IT manager salary, regardless of what they were making before.

An "IT manager" would get at least 70-75K in the NE part of the country...upwards of 90K in larger organizations.

Ya, it's a different position. No percent, you'll get screwed. Do a google or salary calculator or find out what others in that position are making and get the same.

yeah dont agree with the silly notion that 'we can't give you this large of a raise, even though the other managers are making that amount or more'....

This is a trick now employers are using to hire pre-degree on the basis you'll get the job on graduation....then they hold your old token salary/wage over your head to get a steal of a deal on the position.
