Generally, do grocery stores take back out of date product?

The woman and I just returned bi-weekly major grocery shop and while I was putting away the case of yogurt we bought I noticed that the Use By Date is 6JUL06.

Do grocery stores generally take back out of date product? I've never tried returning anything to a grocery store so I don't know.

You can always return unopened stuff to the grocery store with a receipt. You shouldn't have any problems, at least at the ones I've been to.

Also at the local one here, you get a dollar for every expired product you find and bring to the curtosy counter.

I had ripped open the case. Do you think this will be an issue?

Nahh, even if the individual yogurts were opened, the useby date should be enough for them to take it back. I have done this before with products I have opened and found to be moldy.

This has happened to me before -- just wish they would take particular attention to finding the products with old dates.

Stores do. Just depends on whether they've recently done a particulat section. Often chiller/short date stuff is checked more often though, so it can go on sale if it's almost past its use by date.

Take it back, im sure you can get a fresh yogurt.

My last job was at a grocery store and not only would we give you your money back for the bad product but we would give you a new fresh one for free, so all was well.
