general slowness

I have a win2k3 server with a AMD 1.4 CPU and 2 NIC's one 10baseT, the other 100baseT, and all of a sudden when i transfer to and from the win2k3 box it is slower than molasses in january. I have a SCSI card with 2 SCSI HD's one with the OS. But the main files I access are on the ATA66 channel.

I tried using switching NIC's no change, I tried another HD no change, what is the deal? Is it my CPU, mobo, or SCSI card?

Well hopefully you aren't using the 10baseT NIC for file sharing. You want to use 100.

Any recent changes to the server (hardware, software, updates)?

Is anyone using that server for ANYTHING at all (as an admin I would not allow anyone to even use IE for browsing on a server - one idiot clicking on a spyware link is all it takes).

Have you done a thorough virus scan of the server?

Might not be the server. Could be the network switch. Have you tried a different port on the switch? Test or swap out the cable.

Check the Event log on the server for errors that might give you a clue.

Hope this helps...
