General SATA and IDE cable questions

SATA cable questions:
It looks to me that, according to the diagrams at the bottom of this page, that SATA I and SATA II cables are not interchangeable with SATA I and SATA II ports. Is this true? Has anyone used this vendor? They have short right angle to straight cables for a decent price and that's exactly what I need.

IDE cable questions:
Any recommendations for round IDE cables that aren't neon colors that allow for bending in which the cable stays in the position you put it like some ribbon IDE cables? Also, any with either sleeving that is more like other cables (like USB cables) or no sleeving at all? I like the space saving potential of the round ide cables, but the ones that came with my mobo are clunky as hell.

It looks like a comparison of SATA and eSATA, then. I guess the only difference between SATA I and II cables are the clips on the connectors?

you can fold and tie your own IDE cables. then you won't have sleaving, and they'll probably stay in place better (mine did).

the 2nd gen cables have some mechanism to stay in place better. 1st gen ones are far too easy to pull out of drives. i would assume 100% computability, however.

Could someone describe to me how the clips on the SATA II connectors work? I've seen pictures of them, but I don't understand how the clips help secure the connectors to the drive or mobo.

Sleeve the cables and use some zip ties. It's pretty easy, looks great and provides great air flow. I spent a couple hours sleeving everything and then zip tieing to the case as 2 dimensionally as possible. It's really well worth it. The airflow will be increased dramatically. Plan it out. Start with the power cables then work your way out to the IDE/Floppy/SATA cables.
