new stuff-
3200+ winnie
dfi-sl-dr
x-clio 450
6800gt pci-e
added to my gig ram, 2 opticals, 2 hdd in a praetorian.

--3200+ temps in bios at 34-36, everest reads it at 46 and up idle. i assume everest is wrong, although it read my p4 better(30 idle 42 load, in hindsight, maybe that was just wishful thinking). anyway, does DFI not have a monitoring utility? is speedfan the best option?

--i got a 6800gt pci-e and the temps are much higher than the old agp 6800gt. it's the same case and number of fans. i idle at 64 now (was 52) and ran rthdribl for about 3 minutes before it hit 84 (used to be 63 for hours) and i shut her down. a short time after that i heard a snap and then a sound like a wire was caught in a fan. it was the card but after taking it out and making sure there were no obstructions or loose things rattling around in there it fired right back up.

no problems but i'm a little concerned. should i look at a silencer or the zalman? i really thight i could get away with stock as the old agp cooler wsn't nearly as hot as this. i'd hate to rma the thing but i leave my comp on 24/7 most of the time. it feels like the fan is moving enough air, not like a silencer though.

--are sata 1-4 all locked? i gotta go over to difi's site eventually and look thru for some definitions for the bios terms.

--whats up with my floppy? i bought a cheap silver alps, first one i had in years. device manager sees it but the green light is always on and it keeps asking for a disk after i put one in.

any help would be great thanks!

My friend had his floppy cable upside down for about a year, I don't think it fried anything. :D

i think it may be a bad drive, the floppy just keeps whirring in there. i have the red stripe on the right hand side. i thought they all went in stripe right? it's kind of hard to match the key, it looks like it could go either way.

Hi, Cable on backwards does not fry the floppy. It does blow any floppy disc in the drive. On most floppies the Stripe goes toward the power connector regardless of where the power connector is located, but there are some exceptions. Jim

The cable can only go two ways. If the green led is on everytime, the floppy cable needs to be flipped over. Or if you don't think it's wrong, then try flipping the floppy drive itself without flipping the cable! I suggest you try former since it's easier.
