General Question on CPU

I wanted to just get a second opinion on this. I'm currently using a MSI K7T Pro 2A mobo which has a 200 mhz fsb. I put a Athlon 1.2 GHZ 266 mhz fsb cpu in. Everything runs fine and I assume that the chip will just run at the 200 mhz of the mobo bus but wanted to make sure it wouldn't cause any damage to either the CPU or mobo.

Thanks

you might wanna check what speed your chip is running at. if you didnt change any settings in the bios, then your chip is probably runing at 900mhz, instead of 1200. to answer your question, yes, the chip will simply run at 100mhz, instead of its native 133, but since the chips default multiplier is 9.0, then it will run at 9x100 instead of 9x133. to be running at full speed, you're gonna have to change your multiplier to 12 in your bios.

The r 1.2 GHz Athlon w/ 200 MHz. When u on ur PC & it POST 1.2 Ghz. Then u have a 200 FSB CPU w/ 12.0 multipler running on 100 Mhz.
