General Overclocking question

Alright, I'm not the greatest with computers and don't know anything about over clocking

I plan on purchasing the Intel Conroe E6300 and many say it can be overclocked to 2.4 GHz

Would that be possible with the standard fans or would I need to purshase better fans?

i guess so.Cause those chips supposedly run cool and .6ghz aint such a great overclock on intel chips. If u want upto 1ghz u might want to get an after market cooler.

Alright thats good thanks, and again I've never overclocked so one more question

What role does the motherboard play in overclocking

The motherboard is everything. It pushes its FSB, the RAM and the CPU.

You need a good mobo to overclock a little. You need good RAM to overclock a lot!
