General motherboard question

When switching out a motherboard but leaving the hard drives and OS in place, must I remove all of the disk and USB controllers in WinXP device manager before changing out the board. I am running an ASUS CUBX and I'll be switching to a KT266A board and Athlon XP. In device manager it shows a lot of hardware relative to the CUBX; that is IDE, floppy, USB controllers. There are also the usual sound and network controllers/devices. I may be using a board with integrated sound and LAN functions. Do I need to clean all this stuff up before I install the new board/CPU/memory. Thanks much in advance!

You should seriously consider re-installing Windows. Without doing this, you will most likely encouter issues regardless what you do.

Also, you will probably need to re-activate Windows.
