I recently connected some old computers of mine to aid in render time, and have seen some benefits. However, I would like more. I have two questions, what is a good cost/performance range for a chip and mobo combo if I were to buy a couple of them? And is there any place that sells a mobo with integrated network and video card functions bundled with a processor for around $100?

do what you can to get a brisbane x2 3600. there's a combo deal on newegg for it with some ecs board that has int. video for like $93 right now, but if you can swing it do what you can to get a board that overclocks decently, and you should be able to take that chip to at least the high 2ghz range.
