The ProMedia 5.1 computer audio system immediately became a favorite among PC audio and gaming enthusiasts, including editors of top industry magazines, when it was first launched in July of 2001.
Currently, there are thousands of ProMedia 5.1 systems operating beyond expectation in the homes of satisfied customers across the country. Unfortunately, there is also an unacceptable number of systems failing and/or exhibiting one or more performance-robbing flaws.
Shortly after we introduced the ProMedia 5.1, some of our customers began experiencing problems with their systems. We were able to identify the causes as either a manufacturing process problem, which cracked an internal diode, or the failure of an internal hybrid transistor, or in some cases both. After hours of use at high volumes, these problems caused a loud, shrill sound during play, which sounds similar to air being slowly released from a balloon. It also caused the loss of one or more channels of output.
We immediately addressed the causes of these problems, but then discovered a secondary problem with a transistor. This either resulted in the loss of multiple satellite channels or the loss of the subwoofer channel. When correcting this "secondary" transistor problem, we made the error of combining its implementation with a few other "improvements." All changes combined resulted in an overload to a resistor and caused a total loss of sound from any channel.
Because we want to be able to assure our customers that we are doing everything we can to give them the performance experience for which Klipsch is known, we enlisted the assistance of four independent research firms. All four of these firms identified changes and improvements to make to the ProMedia 5.1 that would indeed solve all the problems our customers were experiencing, and that the changes would not cause any additional problems. These changes have been made to all products klipsch has shipped since February 13, 2003.
Further, we are now offering an extended two-year warranty on every new or warranty replaced ProMedia 5.1 system. A special area of the klipsch.com web site has been set up so that customers can register for the extended two-year warranty. Visit http://www.klipsch.com/extendedwarranty/ to register.
If you own a fully functional ProMedia 5.1, keep it and enjoy it because you likely will never experience the aforementioned problems. If your system does exhibit any of these problems, contact ProMedia customer service toll free at 1-888-554-5665 or via e-mail at promediatech@klipsch.com. We will make certain that you receive a properly functioning system.
