I have been having problems with my computer ever since i got it :(

I just wanna find out whats wrong with it...

I have:
athlon 750@675
asus k7v@90mhz fsb
256mb apacer pc133@100
creative TNT 16mb pci (not overclocked)
sparkle 300w ps
ibm 20GB gxp35
sony 32x8x4 crx140

When i first got it, it ran ok for the first 2 weeks, except for online gaming. I get packet loss in every game I play, varying from about 40% to 99%. and its not my isp, modem or phones lines.

after a couple of weeks i started getting really unstable performance. I would get a BSOD or protecting fault involving a .vxd file during boot up, when installing something, when exploring my hdd, basicly when doing anything. So i underclocked everything in my system(as you see in the specs) and it got beter, not a single BSOD since (although i do get the occasional IE crash)

Now i am getting freezes/lockups. only in RTS games, after about 5-30 minutes of play. UT or Q2 dont crash or freeze(neither does TA). but ground control, dogs of war, and dark reign 2 do. The music is still playing in the background, but i cant alt-tab/alt-ctl-del

and this whole time I have still been getting packet loss while playing games online.
I can download (up to 5.5k) and ping (90ms to my isp/130-200 to local servers) fine. its just while running games that my net connection goes spastic.
in UT i can ussualy play for about 5 minutes, then the pl hits and my throughtput is about .2k. in Q2 i cant play at all (netgraph 90% red, all 8). total annihilation wasnt that bad(on boneyards). i could play, but it droped out heaps.

basically my computer doesnt like doing certin intensive things. so im thinking it might be power supply or CPU.

anyone able to help diagnose my problem ?
is much appreciated.

hmm... if it is not an heat issue (which was what came to my mind when i read the first few lines). But now it seems to me of a mobo or cpu problem more.

I think you have 2 seperate problems here. Your online gaming packet loss is attributed to your ISP or a hop along the way. If you ping your ISP at 90ms that is not bad for conventional modem but ping and packet loss are 2 different things. I have a cable modem with Rogers@home. I ping to some servers at 50 ms. I still get packet loss on some servers. I ping to my ISP at 10ms. Packet loss has nothing to do with your PC. It has to do with one or more of your hops to the game server. Only way to find out where it is crapping out is to do a tracert to your server IP address.
Now to your PC prob. It is always hard to track down reasons for lockups and BSOD especially when I cant play around with your PC. There could be several reasons.
- is it 1 memory chip in your PC? 2 diff types of memory sometimes dont get along together. Try diferent slots, if its 1 chip still try another RAM slot.
- Check your memory timings in your CMOS setup, set them to conservative valus.(default)
- Heat maybe an issue, make sure your heatsink is seated firmly against your cpu, any way with that board to find out the CPU temp
-One of your components might simply be a dud unfortunately, motherboard chipset,

I really do think the packet loss is being caused by my computer

I have tried 2 modems and 2 ISP's and they all give me the exact same result. plus on my old computer using the same isp, modem, phone lines my connection is ok, no pl at all.

here are somne traceroute's to some of the servers i've tried playing on.
