When using the AC adaptor, is it better to leave in the battery or to take it out? Just wondering if the constant "slight" recharge/use will create some wear-and-tear on the battery.

Also, if it is better to take it out, is there anything to take its place or just leave the hole empty?

Thanks.

Generally its fine to leave it in all the time, just be sure to occasionally drain the battery and let it recharge again, and do acomplete battery drain, put the computer into dos at a prompt and leave it ON and let it basically kill itself. Youll also want to do that at the beginning known as a Double-Refresh of the battery to ensure you have maximum capacity for the life of the battery.

I usually recommend my customers to do it every 3-5 weeks, for lithium-ion batteries.

most laptops dont have an option to actually discharge a battery, you can use a battery rundown from PC DR... or do what normaly is done, jsut put the computer into dos and let the computer discharge the battery by running with no power saving features =)

OR just turn off power saving features and just leave it be until the battery dies. Even use it during this time. Wouldn't this work as well?

Anyone know about how much longer a 4000 Mah battery pack would last over a 3600 Mah in a laptop???

i really don't think this exists. you can just leave your laptop on if you'd really want to drain it. i'm actually charging my battery now. it's at 50% and charging. wish i had battery life like a T40 though. 7hrs would be really nice. i get around 3.5ish hrs on mine.
