I read somewhere (maybe Ian's last visit to an Intel fab) that some steps in the process require visual inspection by humans.

IIRC, the majority of workers on the assembly line at Foxconn are women.

What about Intel, AMD and TSMC fabs?

My company does both engineering and manufacturing, and the vast majority of workers on the floor are women, especially the (more-talented) solder/rework operators.

Women have a greater attention to detail than men, so it makes sense.
