Gen. Mark Milley nails it in hearing on military wokeness

My new hero. Absolutely spot on, and articulate. I feel better about top military personnel. It's in a response to suspected sex trafficker Gaetz's bloviating.

Top general fires back at 'offensive' criticism of military being 'woke' (yahoo.com)

"I want to understand white rage — and I'm white," Milley told lawmakers "What is it that caused thousands of people to assault this building and try to overturn the Constitution of the United States of America?

"I've read Mao Tse Tung. I've read Karl Marx. I've read Lenin. That doesn't make me a communist," Milley continued. "So what is wrong with understanding, having some situational understanding about the country for which we are here to defend?"

Earlier in the hearing, Austin tangled with another Florida Republican, Rep. Matt Gaetz, who objected to Austin's order for a military-wide stand down, where units took a day out of their normal duties to discuss extremism in the military.

Gaetz claimed opposition to the stand down is "the No. 1 issue" raised in his conversations with troops.
Oh, my stars and garters, consider me fucking shocked that the number 1 issue alleged notorious patron of under-aged sex workers Gaetz has heard from troops is about discussion of extremism in the military. I doubt it makes those troops comfortable, given that they're in all likelihood the extremists being discussed.

Pssst....it's Milley--in the title. I worked for a Gen. Miley back in the 1970's, CG of the AMC (Army Material Command). I don't think he'd have been quite as open minded as Milley was. Yep...pretty sure of that.

the rising but contained anger in his response was great

Fixed. Just simply press the edit button (as originator, I assume). Did not used to be that easy.

I for one am looking forward to learning more about Critical Rage Theory. How were a bunch of DC tourists hoodwinked into an attempted overthrow of the government??

Gaetz is such a turd. You can see the irritation in his reaction to the response. He wasn't asking the question to have honest dialogue, he was asking it to be a troll, and when he got a well-reasoned respectful response to his troll question he couldn't handle it. This is a microcosm of what the Republican party has become.

More brilliance from Milley. Showing contempt for the lying turd Steven Miller.
Then-President Donald Trump, Miller, then-Attorney General Bill Barr, and Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, were clashing over how to respond to the unrest, the book said, per CNN.
During one debate in the Oval Office, Bender wrote, Miller said while watching cable news coverage of the protests that the scene reminded him of a war zone.
"These cities are burning," Miller was reported to have said.
Milley took issue with Miller's comments, Bender wrote, adding that Milley turned around in his seat, pointed his finger directly at Miller, and said: "Shut the f--- up, Stephen."

Top US general Mark Milley told Stephen Miller to 'shut the f---up' when he said BLM protests were turning US cities into war zones, book says (yahoo.com)

The one constant from the GOP shit bags criticizing the military and trying to drag the armed forces into their culture wars is not of those motherfuckers has served or faced combat. But they all like to cosplay shooting up targets and talking about how weak the most powerful military in the world is.

I would fully support a draft for select GOP congress critters to form an 'elite' unit that has to make it through Marine boot camp. They can drop out anytime they want to after it starts.

I said you're in f---ing charge!" Trump shouted at him.
Well, I'm not in charge!" Milley yelled back.
You can't f---ing talk to me like that!" Trump said
"Goddamnit," Milley said to others. "There's a room full of lawyers here. Will someone inform him of my legal responsibilities?"
"He's right, Mr. President," Barr said. "The general is right."

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

At least someone told him

Still remarkable how Trump's instincts are so reliably disastrous to his own interests and everybody else at the same time.
