So when does the attack trinity begin? Come on Limbaugh, Hannity and Beck. Why does Davis Patreus hate America? Why is he weaking the nation? Patreus had the following to say...

In an appearance on Radio Free Europe on Sunday, the man hailed by conservatives as the preeminent military figure of his generation left little room for doubt about where he stands on some of Obama's most contentious policies.

"I think, on balance, that those moves help [us]," said the chief of U.S. Central Command. "In fact, I have long been on record as having testified and also in helping write doctrine for interrogation techniques that are completely in line with the Geneva Convention. And as a division commander in Iraq in the early days, we put out guidance very early on to make sure that our soldiers, in fact, knew that we needed to stay within those guidelines.

"With respect to Guantanamo," Petraeus added, "I think that the closure in a responsible manner, obviously one that is certainly being worked out now by the Department of Justice -- I talked to the Attorney General the other day [and] they have a very intensive effort ongoing to determine, indeed, what to do with the detainees who are left, how to deal with them in a legal way, and if continued incarceration is necessary -- again, how to take that forward. But doing that in a responsible manner, I think, sends an important message to the world, as does the commitment of the United States to observe the Geneva Convention when it comes to the treatment of detainees."

So does this finally put an end to the Cheney, Cheenee Obama bashing tour?

While a career soldier deserves scorn and ridicule, Patreus at least is competent enough to allow for less deaths via his expertise than some incompetent fool. In the horrible world that is our foreign policy, he at least is a 'best case scenerio'

He remains a tool of our imperialism even after he's had the true evils of our policy revealed to him.

Funny that he turned out to be the best decision Bush ever made about that debacle there along with Bush taking his advice which made the grave mistake of invading that shithole somewhat less costly in terms of American lives.

Lib blogs have been inflating the generals words to mean more than they do.
Does Petraeus say he thought waterboarding was torture rather than enhanced interrogation? No.
Does Petraeus support Bush lawyers getting reamed? No.
Petraeus says he is for "responsible" closing of Guantanamo - which means he is on the side of the 90 in Senate who voted against bringing inmates to US and not the 6 who were on Obama's side.

Petraeus is a guy working in administration talking to Radio Free Europe of all things, and pretty much going with the flow in unprovacative way. Libs have made Guantanamo the focus of their national self-hatred so it's a dead end now even though Obama is now reluctantly allowing a lot of what Bush did (and Petraeus knows this). Is he suppossed to start a fight for Gitmo now and call for waterboarding? For the usual lib blogs to run with headlines that say "Petraeus endorses Obama - against torture" is an exaggeration.

Also - just because something is not allowed under Geneva Convention does not automatically make it wrong or illegal. Even Eric Holder has no probs with that.

If that's the extent of your response to Patreus statement, is it any wonder the Conservative movement is in trouble? This is a time for politics of substance, not gotchas, and Republicans are bringing nothing to the table.

Yep. If you bothered to look, I posted that on 8/15/2007, and at the time, the reports stated that Patreus's report was actually written by White House staffers. It wasn't an illustrious start.

The bad news is, since then, we've learned that the crimes committed by your thankfully EX-Traitor In Chief and his criminal cabal of traitors, murderers, torturers, war criminals and war profiteers were even worse than we suspected and continued worsen until the bitter end of their term.

The good news is, that the painful truth about the crimes they committed in our name is finally starting to come to light. I'm glad Gen. Petraeus is honorable enough to state the truth as he sees it.

What I can't understand is, despite all the evidence of their crimes, why you Bushwackos sycophants are still stuck in the past wanting more of the same disasterous actions that needlessly killed so many Americans and thrashed our economy and our society.

Could we get together with Derek and maybe just have him create a new table in the database which has your macros in it and you could just somehow link to it? It might cut the Anandtech database down by a good 20%.

Picking and choosing what you agree with is one thing, calling a General in the US Army a traitor is another. The man's character was called into question and he was labeled a traitor by the fringe left, but now that they agree with him on something he's no longer a traitor. It's laughable.

I happen to agree with Patreus on this, but picking and choosing when you find him "credible" is hypocritical. Either he knows what he's talking about, or he doesn't. To the left, he was a horrible traitor when he didn't say what they wanted to hear, now he's telling the truth when he does.

Anyone who views don't change in the face of new information is a lame ass clown. For years, you've been all over me and others posting that your mercifullly EX-Traitor In Chief and his criminal gang were abusing their positions of power to commit horrendous crimes against our Constitution, our people and humanity, including torture and including the inhumanity and the illegality of Guantanamo.

We now have hard documentation of those crimes, and Dickwad Cheney has foresaken his "undisclosed location" and is currently making the rounds fully disclosing his own guilt and the guilt of others in the commission of those crimes.

Given the mountains of evidence against them, what drives you sorry ass Bushwhacko apologists to continue pimping what they did as anything but the horrific crimes they are?

Once a traitor always a traitor. Was General Patreus a traitor, or were you mistaken in calling him a traitor?
