eCOST has the GEM 19" LCD Flat-Panel Display w/ Speakers, 600:1 Contrast Ratio, 25ms response time, 3yr warranty $249.99 after rebate

Poor response time, but good deal if you're not a gamer.

Actually it is poor for gaming. A 16ms or an 8ms response time would be much better. A 25ms response limits the monitor to about 40 fps.

It's amazing how people think they know everything...

Oh please....you know NOTHING about LCDs. Just from your comment I can CLEARLY see my intellectual superiority over you.

Unless you play a game that flashs a black and white screen then yes it would be limited. There are NO games like that! Its 25ms ONLY when a pixel changes from fully black to a fully white and back to black. When the pixel changes for example from fully black to a color the response time is MUCH faster. Or when a pixel changes from color to color the response time is MUCH MUCH faster than 25ms.....

As I said before, I know more then you do. Its amazing how people will post opinions when they have never even owned an LCD as we all know you have not. Sigh...

"And this panel didn't work any miracles. What we're dealing with here is a typical characteristic of PVA matrices. As transitions between values become slighter, the electrical field applied to each pixel to change the plane of the crystals' orientation becomes weaker. For a slight change, paradoxically, the rotation the crystal has to make is also slight. But with the PVA technology, latency skyrockets when the difference between the desired color and black is slight. And that's what we see here: Latency reaches a high of 120ms, whereas the panel's specs are 25ms according to the ISO standard. "

That's directly quoted from THG about a recent test on some cheap lcd panels. I'd only personally use an lcd panel for gaming if it's response time was in single digit territory.

Exactly. Every game I have played in the 12 months has been on a 25ms samsung panel, and yet I still survive today.

yeah, i had a 25ms monitor, and had to go back to a CRT after a while. Then again, it only bothered me for quake, since that was the only game i competed on.

yeah, but I only need it to last a yr or 2 and then I'll sell it for $200 and upgrade to a 8ms 19" LCD for $250. Pretty good upgrade. I'm dumping my Dell 1905fp for this one. I wasn't too impressed with the Dell over an Acer that I sold. I'll take a cheapy for now and wait for prices to drop. Why do that you ask? B'cuz it's not mine, it's my wife's LCD :)
