I have noticed that ever since Ben & Jerry's have been acquired by Unilever that the taste seems watered down or something. From my physiotherapist i have learned that Gelatelli icecream is also very good and half the price for a bit smaller bucket.

I tried it so far and i am very happy and pleased.
What do you guys and gals prefer ?

110% agree. They were amazing before the acquisition. Now they are just decent ice cream.

I tried to find alternatives. Vice is meh. Boulevard is meh.. Tried pretty much everything else out there. Haagaz Daaz is still legit (minimal ingredients, great mouthfeel - feels like real ice cream in your mouth instead of weird, nice simple taste...their vanilla is especially good).

I ended up going through a homemade ice cream phase not too long ago & just make my own now a couple times a week to build up my inventory. The recipe is floating somewhere around this forum. Basically - sous vide the mix (egg yolks & co), chill overnight, churn in a freezer bowl, then freeze overnight. The result is definitely in the top 3 ice creams I've ever eaten, and while the process itself is long (I usually stretch it out into 2 days), the actual work required is very small, so it's pretty easy to throw into my evening routine a few nights a week so that I always have some good ice cream on hand!

Well, after some tasting last night, i have to say that the typical texture of Ben &Jerry's icecream is not matched by Gelatelli but the taste is good.
I tried a bit of 3 flavours now, chocolate fudge, cookie dough and strawberry cheesecake from Gelatelli and it is not bad at all. On the contrary.
Maybe i should go the mad schientist road and mix similar products from both brands together and taste what is the result.

I've never heard of gelatelli. Is it Ice cream or is it supposed to be more like gelato?

I like Talenti(sp?) a lot for a plainish ice cream, but I haven't found a mega chunk replacement for B&Js yet. I also agree the quality went down after the sale. That's why I prefer supporting non publicly traded companies. With publicly traded companies, the customer is last on the list to satisfy. The idea is to fuck the customer just enough that they don't bail, and can have another profitable quarter. The quarter after that might as well not exist.

It is an icecream brand the LIDL sells.
I did some digging, gelatelli as a brand is no different in comparison to Ben & Jerry's and Unilever.
Gelatelli is owned by the Lidl Stiftung & Co. KG.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lidl
Lidl Stiftung & Co. KG (German pronunciation: [ˈliːdl̩]; UK: /ˈlɪdəl/ LID-əl), formerly Schwarz Unternehmenstreuhand KG, is a German global discount supermarket chain, based in Neckarsulm, Germany,[1] that operates over 10,000 stores across Europe and USA.[2] It belongs to Dieter Schwarz, who also owns the store chains Handelshof and hypermarket Kaufland.
Lidl is the chief competitor of the similar German discount chain Aldi in several markets, including USA.[3] There are Lidl stores in every member state of the European Union, except Latvia and Estonia.

Oh well, enjoy it while it lasts...

Aha, i am not the only one that seems to notice a change in taste.
Also, Ben & Jerry icecream never made me fart. Now it does.
Some flavours give me the runs so i avoid those flavours.
I am getting the notion that hfcs or glucose -fructose syrup in combination with some other ingredient makes my digestive system upset.

B&J Cherry Garcia is like the best ice cream ever made in the history of ice cream. Love that shit.

It's also a hassle losing a good resource. Ben & Jerries was always a solid choice for quality pint of ice cream. It's still good, it's just not fantastic anymore. I ended up just learning how to make my own at home, but it's so much easier to just grab some from the store on the way home when you want an ice cream fix, and now that's gone :(

They have a salted caramel truffle variant as well -- my guess is they're testing the market with limited flavors. Creamy Creations was already delicious -- this even better.

Is it sold globally ?
I did some searching and found a bristol based ice salon, but that is unlikely the only source of the ice cream.

Only Haagen Dazs and Trader Joe's ice cream for me. I used to love Ben and Jerry's and Cherry Garcia used to be my favorite. Now Ben & Jerry's is on my Do Not Buy List because it's so awful. Even B1G1 sales don't tempt me.

There is another brand of icecream that is incredible tasty. Mövenpick. Swiss origins.
It is owned for some time by Nestle so it too might have lost some of its original quality.
But it still seems to be incredibly good.

Unfortunately, the US is not listed as having a Mövenpick office.
