Yes, you read it well. GeIL, our favourite memory supplier :)P) is going to officially release memory with a latency of 1.5-2-2-5. These modules will appear in 256 MB and 512 MB flavours, and dual channel kits. These will be made with the infamous and famous BH-5 chips, which will be handpicked.

Anyone know what these babies'll cost?

I am a big fan of Geil. I have used several types of ram from them ie: Platinum, Golden Dragon, etc.

Typically they have fantastic prices for outstanding ram.
But things are usually more expensive in the begining;)
Wait it out and it will be worth it.

I have nothing against Geil. I just know that cas1.5 memory is going to be highest end. Therefore, its gonna cost ALOT.

I remember reading that... but I think the on-die mem controller on A64 can't go below CAS 2 anyway.... and I wonder if there are any P4 boards out that support that low of a CAS anyway...

yes but if you read the anand review, you will see that the mem controllers on the A64 were not designed to work with CAS 1.5 only as low as CAS 2 .. although im not sure on the truth of this, all i know is that with a CAS 1.5 rating at 200Mhz, this will give nice head room when OCing to maybe keep cas 2up to 225Mhz who knows.. hmm i wonder what voltage is required to run at these timigs

I'm not quite so sure. I mean, Clawhammers and Newcastles were built for CL2. But maybe the newer cores, such as Winchester, Venice, San Diego, Manchester and Toledo can actually do something with a CL lower than 2.

They are great for P4 systems but not so great for A64 systems in my testing....not a 100% sure of the reason but most of the ppl aroiund the boards will agree...My geil sticks would not run cas 3 at all.....

I dunno, I hate to rain on people's parade but very few boards support Cas 1.5 out of the box. In addition UTT has been running with that for quite a bit of time now.

For most guys buying this they would need the A64 tweeker to get the full effect.

I like Geil. I use their value line a lot, and had their Golden Dragon series for a while. Cool looking stuff, ran great too.

Besides, how can you not like a memory company named Golden Emperor International Limited? :p

I still have an ancient asus p4g8x which has an option for 1.5 cas in the bios.

Somehow I doubt getting 1.5 cas memory will be my best upgrade route though :)

The MSI Neo2 has the 1.5 cas option.....I could run my current stick at that setting though I noticed no reall difference so who knows if it works...

I tried 1.5-2-2-7 at 100div at 290 so it putis in the 290ddr range and I then tried 133 at same level 2-2-2-7 and so nothing in superpi 2mb....also bandwidth numbers didn't change so it likely didn't work...

Some board support the option, but do nothing with it. I'm not so sure if those boards'd do the same with true CL1.5 memory.
