If i get GeIL PC-4200 1024MB Dual 184-pin DDR SDRAM (2x512MB sticks) 533mhz w/heatspreader

will i be able to overclock that to 200FSB on my AthlonXP 2500+ because my current GeIL PC3200 and
Athlon XP 2500+ max out at 187FSB .... all at default voltage .... on a Nforce2 Board

My experience with GEIL, based on PC 3500, is that that memory is inferior to Kingston HyperX and that its potential is only available fully on Intel based boards. It also require increased voltage. But this is a new 3.5 ns chip so who knows.
N-Force 2 boards are lousy for memory compatibility, so watch out that the reseller you are buying from has a decent return policy.

I wouldn't get any PC3700+ for any AMD system. All the manufacturers have such laxed timings on them that they would not perform well at all in an nForce2 board.

Why would you get geil when geil crapped out on you? The irony.

Are you sure your memory is the reason why you can't get your FSB higher? Your current memory should run at its rated speed. Have you messed with the memory timings?

memory timings are all at default .... i am running an Albatron KM18G Pro Micro ATX board .. it has no overclocking options at all apart from FSB adjustments in 1 increments up too 250FSB ......

do you think its my board not letting me go to 200SFB .. ?

Its possible that its the board, not sure, I dont have much experience with that manufactorer.

I do know that the Epox 8rda has a northbridge voltage issue that prevented, some of the boards, from reaching 200 FSB. Maybe there is a similiar issue with certian revsions of your board, may wanna do some research, find others that have used the same board you have and see what they say they can do.

I of course happened to get one of those Epox boards and was not happy at all. I had to buy a new board to get it past 200.

I also could be the memory, as mentioned before, you need a lil extra volts to get it to run at specs.

You could have a bad memory module that is causing the issue, how many modules are you using, have you tried them one at a time?

I find it odd that the board will let you up the FBS to 250 but you cant change the mem or CPU voltage settings. Not sure why you have that option if you cant up the dram or CPU voltages. Have you tried updating the bios? Some board do not run well with the factor bios version.

I am not familiar with that board. It could be the board. If it doesn't lock the AGP or PCI buses then it could be that AGP or PCI cards are causing the problem. Or, maybe your processor needs more voltage to work with the 200MHz bus. It could be the memory too, but I find it odd that Geil, which is supposed to be quality memory, won't even run at its rated speed. I would expect it to run faster than its rated speed, though possibly with relaxed timings.

There are some funny things with GEIL on N-Force boards, it usually fails its timings in memtest. Nevertheless, the same memory excells in Intel boards. I was running PC 3500 at 2.5-4-3-7 at 237 FSB on a Springdale board. Yeah baby, that is 474 MHz at 1:1, go figure but I think the board/setup is to blame not the memory.
I run Samsung TCB3 CTL on 220 FSB at CAS 2.5 on a Springdale board, flawlessly. I could barely pass 185-187 on N-Force 2 board.
