Hi ,

I have just bought 2 x 256mb GeIL 3200 memory from ebay new . I am running 2 x Corsair in my PC just now and i was wondering what others opinion was of the 2 brands , which would you put in your system and why ?

2 x 256mb PC3200 - Corsair ?
or
2 x 256mb PC3200 - GeIL ?

Any feedback would be appreciated ... thanks ... :D

i'd go for the corsair just because of its name and quality. I've never heard bad things about corsair, but people have had some problems with Geil. While I have a stick of Geil pc3500 I have no complaints. If all the specs are the same (cas latency, etc), then i would stick with the corsair

I use Geil, because it was chreaper, and it works fine. BUT Corsair does have a better track record, so if in doubt go Corsair. BUT if running out of money and need soem cheap decent ram go Geil.

In my experience, it is a mistake to accept general recommendations for system memory and also a mistake to buy system memory by brand name.

What's your motherboard? If it's an Abit model, then visit 'Abit Motherboards' forums. If it's a Gigabyte model, then visit 'Gigabyte Motherboards' forums. The real experts about best memory for your motherboard are those who use your model motherboard.

Trust advice only from those who use the same motherboard you have. Motherboards differ in chipset, memory controller and other specifics - and some boards simply perform better with specific memory chips.

For example, my BuffaloTech PC3700 just beats the snot out of more-expensive Corsair TWINX 3200C2 - on my board - in every measurable performance parameter.

Hope this helps!

They don't run at good timings. Samsung, in particular is a joke - PC3200 @ 3-8-4-4. Tried it once; never again!
