This is my first post on this forum so please go easy on me.
The computer is a dell P4 2.40 512MB XP pro
The video card is a AOpen Geforce3 Ti 200 Tv-out DVI running detenator drivers.
The card I'm having problems with is a PNY Verto Geforce3 Ti 500 TV-out DVI.
Just so you know the Ti 500 is running fine in my other computer- HP AMD 800 128 MB 98se.
When I tried to install the Ti500 in the dell it already had the Ti200 with the latest drivers so I thought I could just pop the old card out and pop the Ti500 in it's place as you know it wasn't that simple.
The computer took longer than normal to boot up, then frooze up when I tried to access the advanced video settings Tab. I shut down the computer and restarted and tried a second time with the same results.
I retarted again and went to Control panel/system and unintalled the video card and drivers the rebooted the computer.
At start up it recognized the card and asked to find the driver. I then reinstalled the detenator drivers and restarted the computer again. Same problem... as soon as try to open the advanced Tab on the display properties page it locked up.
I gave up and reinstalled the old Ti200 card and it was back to normal no problems at all.
I thought maybe I had a bad card since I bought it used so I put it in my old computer and everything went fine the card works great.
I'm not great at upgrading my computers but not an idiot either.
Is there something obvious that I may have missed?
Is there a link someone can give me that gives step by step instructions on how to install the card, If I read them maybe something will pop up that I missed.
Thank
John
