GeforceFX 5900 256mb or ????????

I have a friend that bought a computer from alienware and after seeing the benchmarks for half-life 2 with the 5900 he said he would sell the card to me for $300. My question is, should I buy it or get a Radeon card instead? $300 is a good price for the card, but I don't want a card that will be considered a waste of money.

how much did he shell out for the alienware???

id spend that money on a 9900NP then OC to pro speeds.

If it's the Ultra, buy it, sell it on eBay, make a profit, and then buy a better card, or a card that gives you more bang for your buck.

there's a 9800pro on newegg for $306

if you're willing to do the ebay thing, buy it from him and sell it...you should make money.
