Geforce4

Yo one quick question...I did a search but it was not posted....

I am interested when is Geforce4 MX440 or MX460 gonna be available for purchase?
Here I read Geforce4 is going to be introduced on Feb5 but I didn't know what does that mean specifically.
I am building a new system and now I am torn.
Should I get Radeon 8500, Geforce3 Ti200 or wait for Geforce4????

Do you guys have any input about that??
I appreaciate your comments....
Thanks...

wait for it cause that will mean prices for the other vid cards will drop if you are worried about price
those gf4 mx ones look to be slightly crippled and will be budget geared and the faster gf4 will cost you losts of money
so i guess unless you really want one just wait for the prices to drop on the gf3 models when the gf4 comes out

It seems that the gf4mx will be based on a crippled version of the gf3 chip, so I would wait for the GF4's to come out, and then purchase a GF3-TI200 <------best bang for the buck !

The best bang for the buck would be a regular geforce 3 used. If you can find one for less then a ti200 it is faster.

honestly it will be a while before games that can take advantage of a geforce4 will be out. Unless you're really hyped about anti-aliasing (overrated IMHO), none of the current games will really look any better on a geforce4. You may be able to go to higher resolutions, but thats about it. It won't significantly change your gaming experience compared to a geforce3 or radeon 8500.

Unreal II will be able to take advantage of all the T&L features, but it will be a while before that is out so you may as well save the money now.

Thanks for your comments guys...

What I've read so far is that MX460 is going to be faster than Geforce3 Ti200... (300 and 550Mhz)
That's why I was particularly interested in those....

I just hate it that I paid >$100 for my Radeon VE last summer and now it's worth $30 or so....
I want to invest in something that is going to hold a price for a little bit more....
That's why I planned to buy GF4 MX460 and if the retail price is gonna be $199 how they said it's not that much....rather invest $50 more at the beginning....

So guys really don't think that waiting for that is such a good idea?
You think if I buy Ti200 now it should be cool???
I just want it to stick for a little bit longer...

If you think that's better idea which Ti200 should I get? Or they are all the same???

Thanks again.

I think the geforce 4 will have a true dual display like the ATI and Matrox. Can anyone with a geforce 3 ti xxx with a tv out run both the tv and the monitor at the same time or is it either/or?

heh
MX440 is gonna be sold next weekend in CompUSA....
Now I really have no clue what to do....

Coz it's only $20 more expensive than the Geforce3 Ti200
I looks to me a sin to give $150 for "older" technology when the new one is available for $20 more....

Arghhhhhhhh crap!
🙁

I'd just like to say, the GeForce4MX is not based on a crippled GeForce3 it's the successor to the GeForce2MX and is based around the same core as the NV17M. And from early testing, it looks like the GeForce4MX isn't as capable as even a regular GeForce3. The new Powermac G4 computers from Apple already have the GeForce4MX card in them and from tests at Accerlerate your mac it seems to perform less than the GeForce3 in every single test. Of course Apple doesn't even mention which MX they're using.
