Is the Asus V8440 gonna be a good card to get? Anyone have ideas about what company is going to have the best bang for the buck Geforce4 card?

First off, STAY AWAY from the MX series. They're really just a bunch of GeForce 2s.

The TI series is all good (4200, 4400, 4600). They're based off the new chip, and they put up impressive numbers.

The 4600 is THE ONE. However, it's $400, so it's probably out of most people's range.

The 4400 is good, and it's $300.

In 8 weeks, they'll release the TI 4200. It's probably the best deal - it may retail for $199, making it the "TI 200" of the GeForce 4s. If it bechmarks well (and it most likely will), it will be the best buy.

I suggest you wait until March when ATi's new boards are released. The Radeon 8800 is rumoured to be faster than a Ti4600.

BFK10K, Any place I can check to see what the radeon 8800 will be like? I was about to buy a radeon 8500. Will it be worth it to wait?

It will be worth the wait on the 8500, because the Geforce 4s will actually hit the market, and the ATIs will be announced, even if they dont hit the market right away. That will push the price down on an 8500. Im waiting on the announcement from ATI, to determine if the 8800 is a big enough increase over the 8500 to justify the price, or if the then cheaper 8500 will be the best way to go.

Normally, I wouldnt advise holding off purchase for something newer, because new products come out quite often. But when the new product is 1 month away or less, I generally think its worth the wait.

Not sure if I want to go with Gainward. Reason is, I currently own a Gainward ti450 and am having some issues with the 2d. The image, like text and icons and everyting is doubling. It's almost as if everything has a shadow, and it seems to come and go. Like halfway through typing this message it got blury then cleared up then got blury again. I also want a card that I can mount one of these onto, compatibility: Video Card Aqua Sink
Since my current Gainward Ti450 has one on it now.

Unless its got some architecture changes I dont think it will be much better, see the article on x-bit labs on extreme overclocking.

Listen up Big Chief- the Ti4600 is the ONE. The one we have heard legend of, the daddy mack and the mack daddy. Buying it will make your johnson grow three inches, and all the girls will KNOW as you swagger by that you be livin' LARGE, that you got it goin' ON. Owwww!

Now, the Ti4400 is a baaad mutha fu**ah too. It's kind of like Tex Cobb and Mike Tyson, they BOTH gonna mess you up, one just got a lil' more DaaaannnGGG!

Don't be messin' with no punk MX, they're for gamer wannabes.

The 8800 is rumoured to have 350/350 speeds and a tweaked core. With 700 MHz memory it should be able to edge the Ti4600.

I would wait until March if I were you because I'm certainly going to wait. It's only a few weaks away.
