The software I'll be using is Discreet Combustion which is based on Open GL. I'm going to get one of these and the price difference is around $200. Just curious for opinions on whether the quadro4 750 xgl is enough the extra $.
I read somewhere about a driver hack that you could use to allow the installation of the Quadro driver set on the Ti4600 card. Supposedly this gave you most of the performance of the real Quadro card. Maybe someone can provide a link to this, or perhaps you can find it yourself...
Personally I wouldn't pay the price premium for a 4600, consider the 4200 in either classic or 8 layer enhanced modes or even a 4400 if you can get your mitts on one. ANyway for a guide to perf this may help:
if i had the money, i would buy a nvidia quadro 4 like that. i do lots of graphics editing and i would just love it, especially for photoshop and 3dsmax. If you do lots of graphic editing and not that much gaming, id say go for the quadro
Stick with the Ti4600 or a cheaper Ti4400 (which overclocks past Ti4600 levels). Use the savings for a faster CPU instead as the Ti4600 has alot of breathing room CPU-wise.
