GeForce4 Ti4600 for $219 at Best Buy!

I wish I was as lucky as you all. No CompUSA around here. Local Best Buy said they would only PM local market. Guess i have to wait to use my BB gift cards.

Consider the cost of adding ramsinks when determining whether this is a good deal for you.

No ramsinks on the card.

The BFG card only has the Blue Orb - but I see no reason you could not adhere heatsinks to the ram chips.

But I'll sell you my Visiontek GF4 Ti 4400 (new!) retail box, should you desire. It's got a giant alum heatsink wrapped around both sides of the card, with 2, count 'em, 2 fans.

at my compusa there is also a 30 instant rebate, so I got it for $190+tax before rebates, $140+tax after.

ummm... how did u get it for 190 before rebates at compusa?

Regular price: 300
- IR 30

270 before the 50 dollar rebate

Read the entire post. The whole point of it is that BB has made a "market adjustment" in reaction to CUSA's price after rebate (Read: Raised the 'ole middle finger at CUSA) and matched their after-rebate price. So they are carrying it for $220 with no MIRs. To add insult to injury, since BB's price doesn't include any rebates, you can go back to CUSA and see if they will honor a pricematch to BB. You get 110% IIRC, which takes it down to $190, then you get CUSA's rebate for $50 for $140+tax out the door.

Of course getting CUSA to PM is a YMMV situation.

Just another 90 bucks cheaper and all the people that never got their TI4600's for $130 at a "SPECIAL PRE-ORDER PRICE" from worst buy may be able to actually get their cards... About a year later 😉

Remember folks, this "market reaction" price may only be good through saturday, if the guy that looked it up in the computer when I bought mine at BB is to be believed.

And I thought of doing the "return it to BB and try to guarantee it's in stock" but I didn't have the energy for the hassle and BB was so swamped with waddling sweating holiday idiots I didn't even bother walking in the door.

I went to CompUSA and price matched to the local BestBuy (I had a printout of the shelftag and had already verififed the price and stock) and they price matched it only 100%, not the 110% that people are talking about. So I got the BFG TI4600 for $170+tax after the CompUSA rebate.

Bought a card at BB, went to 2 CrapUSSRs and was denied pretty much at both. One manager said that his cost for the card is $264 and he cannot loose money. The other one spent about ten minutes on the phone trying to get through to the neighbouring BB, hung up and refused to call again. To put the iceing on the cake they lost my BB receipt which I showed them for reference.

I am pissed beyopnd belief. Where can I complain?

A nice touch about the BFG is that they include a DVI to VGA adapter and an S-video to S-video in/S-video out/composite in/ composet out cable. These would cost about $30 in a store if bought separately. I don't know of any other company that includes these. I still think they should have thrown in the ramsinks, though...

It's a pretty nice card. Comes with very useful connectors that would usually cost extra, but does not come with ramsinks and uses a Blue Orb for cooling the GPU (not exactly top end cooling). However, I got mine to 320/745 anyway, and I'm looking forward to seeing what can be done with some Tweakmonster ramsinks. To water-cool or air-cool...

As soon as I try overclocking much, my system temp rises dramatically. Gonna adhere heat sinks to the chips on the card, possibly add a couple more case fans, perhaps even those hard drive and RAM cooling devices. Let you know how it goes....

Well, my hot deal was a bust, and I'm pissed....

I picked up the card at Best Buy for $219 out the door with no problem at all, it was even labeled on the shelf with that price - cheaper than the GF4400 in fact....

I then went to CompUSA and picked out the card from them ($269 shelf price) and told them that I wanted to price match what Best Buy is selling them for.

They seemed to be confused and I brought mine in with receipt from maybe 12 minutes earlier and said I wanted to price match. The clerks became even more confused and by the time they were able to determine what I wanted, there were FOUR fricking clerks and one manager discussing what I wanted to do.

The moron manager figured out that there was the $50 (manufacturer) rebate on the card and said he couldn't match their price. He said he WOULD give it to me for $219 but that they would keep the UPC, meaning I wouldn't be able to send in the rebate. I asked him what the point of that would be..... He shrugged.

So then I'm like -- This is a manufacturer's rebate according to your website - it doesn't come out of your pocket... Again he shrugged.

I then complained that Best Buy's price was $219 "Out the door" and told him that I would like the card for $219 out the door at CompUSA as well, plus get the bonus of the rebate. The bastard wouldn't budge.

I whined that I knew other stores were doing what I was trying to accomplish and he just got more confused. I told him he sucked and walked out with my card from Best Buy.

I still can't decide if I'm going to keep the card - I haven't seen any reviews of it anywhere yet and can get more of a "name brand" GF4-4600 from NewEgg for like $20 more with free shipping. ATI 9700 for maybe $60 with free shipping. I can't decide - my GF3 seems to be doing find now but it's always nice to have a new toy.

Grrr.

Yah..its the age old "double-dip". Key to avoiding this is to first purchase the card from CrapUSSR, no strings attached. Take the card out to your car. Tell them you stopped by Best Buy and noticed they were selling it for $219. Tell them you want a price match or you are returning it and buying from them. Much less likely they will prevent you from getting your rebate at that point, and you put the ball in their court.

I would try case fans and slot blowers first. Ram sinks don't do nearly as much as cool system temps.

Edit: Oh yah, this deal is probably dead now.

Yeah, the rebate at SUCKASSNONHOTDEALHOOKERUPPERS-USA said it expired today...I'd imagine 9pm when they close is pretty much it.

Figure if you bought at CompUSSR you'd already have the $50 rebate printout/receipt, so you'd then be able to pricematch the item, maybe even at 110% if that's their PM deal - and you''ve already got the rebate slip in your pocket as well as the UPC code. At that point, f**k 'em, they'd have to honor the MIR.
