GeForce4 Ti 4600 vs. GeForce3 Ti 500

Since I saw it available to buy in a couple of places online, I was wondering if anyone has managed to get their hands on a Ge4 Ti 4600; if so, how does it compare to Ge3 Ti 500? I've seen all the tests and benchmarks, but that doesn't tell you nearly as much as outright gaming with the card. (Example: I get an average 7150 score in 3D Mark 2001, and a friend gets a score of 6200 and three of the games we have in common play almost exactly the same with the same config.) So has anyone really put this card to the test and if so, is it worth the upgrade?

Certainly worth choosing it over the Ti500 but I would not say it's worth upgrading if you already have a Ti500. Not unless you can sell the GF3 for a good price :)

You might see the new GF4 TI4600 to buy online but they aren't scheduled to be shipped out til the end of February or at least in the next several days so I don't expect to see any real people having them for at least the next week or two.

If I had a choice to buy either the GF4 Ti or GF3 Ti500, I would definitely go for the GF4 Ti (if I could afford it that is), but I wouldn't upgrade a GF3 to a GF4. I am several gens behind now so I will be going to the GF4 when it comes out, but probably the GF4 Ti4200. The GF4 does look like it will kick the butt of any GF3 Ti card, but that is not surprising after seeing the default clock speeds of the core and memory and basically it's still a GF3, but it's just a bit faster.

If things are playable for you now on your current setup, don't change anything. If you need more speed or whatever, upgrade. That's the bottom line.

Yeah, things are playing really well on this machine so I was hoping to curb any temptation to upgrade, which really isn't necessary. Thanks guys.
