So I've gone out and bought my son a new video card, the fastest our AMD K6 500mhz processor (256mb RAM) on an Aopen AX59pro board will take, and it locks up trying to play Jedi Knight 2! I try to turn the settings for the game to "fastest" and sometimes it locks up there, before playing! Other times I'm just barely in the game ... and it locks up. At no time have I played more than 5 minutes without locking up, always to the point where only a reset button hard boot will wake it up. The card is new today, I've checked for conflicts in device manager and found none, the drivers are the most recent on the Invidia site for our Win2000 Pro system ... whazzup?:(

The AMD K6 2 500mhz cpu does generate alot of heat (I used to own one myself a few years ago) so check to see if it's overheating and if so you'll need a better heatsink/fan.

Your motherboard uses a VIA MVP3 chipset if I'm not mistaken so I suggest you download the latest Via 4in1 drivers for your motherboard, they are currently at v4.40, you can get them from here:-

VIA 4in1 Drivers

Make sure you DON'T select the turbo agp option when installing the above drivers incase it's not compatible with your motherboard.

Feel free to message me and I'll send you my email address if you need extra help! :)

Some relief ... but not much! I downloaded the Via4in1 driver for my 2000 Pro system and it didn't lock up immediately ... it just played a little longer before locking up! I'm unclear why it locks up at all! Is there some basic problem here? I was told the game would at least play with my slow processor and system but I don't see the light just yet. Please advise as you've been very helpful so far ...

thanks ... I could use a direct email exchange if you're willing but I'm not sure what your "message me" comment meant, unless there's instant messaging here and I could catch you online!
