Does nVidia realise they just killed sales of their nForce mother boards with the release of the geForce4 video cards?

I WAS planning on getting an nForce board, but the review of the new geForce video cards changed my mind in one easy step. I'll wait long enough for the Ti 4200 to come out then upgrade the whole shebang at once. It will cost me more than a nForce solution would have but DARN those cards are sweet.

Or am I delusional?

No, the nforce is meant more of system integrators. I plan on building a couple of PC's using the nforce chipset myself.

The nForce is the best integrated "high end" solution currently available for a "gamer" oriented PC IMHO. I have one in the secondary PC and it runs like a champ.

And just what is stopping you from plugging the GF4 straight into the nforce???

Just because nforce 420D has graphics capabilities integrated in, it doesn't mean you are forced to use them...

Doesn't the nforce have a Geforce 2 on there? If so, then they would have so-called "killed it" a LONG TIME AGO with the release of the Geforce 3.

The nforce has an integrated Geforce2 MX built into the IGP.

it is there to provide decent (compared to other integrated graphics chipsets) entry-level graphics capability for the average user. If you require more performance/functionality than that offered by the integrated graphics, you simply plug an AGP card that fulfils your requirements into the AGP port.

Joe Average mostly wants to surf the 'net, play simple games and use entry-level productivity software. For all of that (including the occasional online game of CS) the integrated core is just fine.

Are you still going to upgrade your motherboard?? The nForce 415's should be out around the time that the GeForce4 4200's are available for sale. The abscense of integrated graphics could lower the cost a little for you.
