Is there a minimum power supply requirement to use the GeForce4 Ti4600? I've heard mixed reports that you need at least a 300W, and yet some people report that it works fine with a 250W.

Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

Basically it works for some people on low Wattage power supplies, and doesn't for others. It depends on the manufacturer of the PS (a reputable manufacturer vs a no-name brand) and especially on your current setup for your computer. Depending on if you have a lot of hard drives, ROM drives, PCI cards, etc (more stuff in your case that draws power) you may or may not be able to get away with a low-watt PS. I'd say 300 should be fine as long as you don't have too much stuff in there, otherwise you might wanna play it safe and get a quality 350+ W PS.

I'm running a 250w on a p4 1.8g with a 7200 rpm 80 gig, dvd, cdrw, zip. PCI-EEEi194, 2x PCI-Ethernet, Turtle Beach sound

Upgrading from a GeForce3 64mDDR

My new GeForce4 TI 4600 128DDR is acting up at certain resolutions. Could this be a power supply issue?

PNY tech support says it definately is and two different Dell techs said it's a possiblity

what do you think?

troydt,I would say there`s good chance the PSU is the problem, the only way to find out is to replace it with a better PSU.

BTW welcome to AT forums.

Yes, Its probally the PSU, I would suggest borrowing one from a friend, or purchasing one through our For Sale/For Trade forum, as there are usually very good deals for some quality PSUs.

I would suggest an Antec, or Enermax PSU.
