GeForce3 with All-In-Wonder Abilities?

I have been counting on ATI to bring out the 8500 All-In-Wonder. I was willing to wait another month or two after the release of the plain 8500 for them to get the All-In-Wonder version out. Yet, I am not really interseted in it anymore with the lack of working features and spotty performance. While I do value 2d quality I have heard the GF3 is quite good. Is there a GF3 based card that has All-In-Wonder abilities?{TV tuner, video capture...}

Nick

there is none with a tuner and all the xtras

Regular RADEON AIW is the only viable choice now IMO

8500DV isnt out yet and GF3 with those features are going to be released later as well

RAdeon still wins in features Nvidia in performance ( only for now i hope 🙂)

Actually there is something called the Nvidia personal Cinema. I'm not sure how available it is, but I do know some Fry's stores sell them. Do a search on anandtech.com, he did a review of it

Yeah, it's good for you--pick yourself up a GeForce3, (original, Ti 200, or Ti 500) WITH nVidia Personal Cinema packaged in.

You won't find any Hercules, Gainward, or Elsa packaging the All-In-Wonder killer but all nVidia cards are based off the reference board by nVidia so you're not going to get a substantial difference in performance amongst cards manufactured by different companies. (Unless you're going to OC the card).

EDIT: Well, I forgot--ATI calls it the ALL-IN-WONDER

all in wonder killer is not true at all. While the Nvidia PC is a decent add on for the Geforce cards, it is in no way an all in wonder killer. Especially not compared to the 8500DV

You guys make me laugh...

Those features area from the date of nVidia's announcement. There were a few reviews (reports) done when nVidia showed off their Personal Cinema at the Intel Developer Forum....search around the Internet for that and you'll turn up some reports that the Personal Cinema is very eye-opening. The main features the Personal Cinema have is that it has a remote. Everything else is essentially the same damn thing.

You guys supporting ATI or nVidia--funny stuff. Why not just support stuff that's worth supporting? Why be a loyal buyer from 1 manufacturer? The only time to do that is when they become a MICROSOFT <----(who I like).

Well, here's my main point. The 2 are virtually the same thing. Since most gamers use an nVidia card anyway, WHEN nVidia finally decides to put up the Personal Cinema for sale INDEPENDENT of a graphics card, all people will have to do is buy the Personal Cinema unit. Also, until ATI proves to the world that they can make stable drivers, ATI = ?

Anyway, the original poster's question was if you could get an nVidia card with TV tuner/capture capability...the answer is YES.

True, but right now they do not sell it independtanly. The 8500DV is a darn good card. Yes ATI has to get its driver act otgether, but when/if they do Nvidia is screwed. I mean sure the Personal Cinema looked good, but in all the reviews I have read, nobody liked the software, most of it didn't even work. 3D quality aside(since thats not normally why you buy and all in wonder card) ATI takes the cake.

Yeah, I heard their little interactive programming guide didn't really do much...but I can't get ATI's guide plus to work too well...in my girlfriend's computer-- true T1 connection 24/7...yup--I get time outs. I guess it's more the hits that the server takes but still. Also, she tends to get a problem using the TV program--after changing channels a few times, you'll see a funny thing happen...you hear one thing, but you see mouths move late...yup--lag on the video somehow. Maybe it has something to do with what PCI slot I installed her PCI ALL-IN-WONDER card.
